May Wrap Up!

Hello my book lovelies and welcome to another wrap up!

This month I don’t know how I did it but I managed to read a total of 7 books!

I am rather proud of myself 7 books is a lot for me, but with me being behind on my Skulduggery Pleasant reread I knew I had to onto my reading and finish off the series.

We have a lot of books to get through so let’s get started!

Paper Girls Vol. 1 by Brian K. Vaughan- 4/5 Stars

This is the first volume in the science fiction comic series. Paper Girls is about four 12 year old paper girls who during the early hours after Halloween stumble across a mystery that will change their worlds.

With amazing artwork and a catching story I am very eager to get into the series more and find out what is going on in this story.

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas- 5/5 Stars

The third and final book in this part of the ACOTAR series this book has been a top anticipated read of mine.

This book was so amazing and I was so worried that after finishing it I was going to get into a major reading slump that would affect my reading month, but I must have been so happy with the ending that my heart was just so full and it didn’t affect me at all.

My full review is still to come.

Kingdom of the Wicked by Derek Landy- 5/5 Stars

What can make a Skulduggery Pleasant book even better than it already is? How about some Science fiction dimensional shunting?
Kingdom of the Wicked was such an action packed read, but I still found myself laughing during really dramatic fight scenes. I mean how could you not laugh when a character thinks “Wow, this guy was violent” while getting the heck beaten out of them?
Just like most of these books, no matter how much action there is, there are always some emotional scenes and boy do they still hit me hard!

The Maleificent Seven by Derek Landy- 5/5 Stars

Derek has a gift at making us love his villains and he proves it with dedicating a whole book to them!
I loved having a whole 285 pages dedicated to Tanith, Sanguine and all the other villains that have flown under the radar throughout the series.
We also get introduced to some more of the good guys including Saracen Rue and the Monster Hunters themselves, Donegan Bane & Gracious O’Callahan who I love to death a make me laugh so much.
No matter how many times I read this book I will always find myself loving it and never getting sick of it!

Last Stand of Dead Men by Derek Landy- 5/5 Stars

No matter how prepared I was for this book it still managed to rip my heart out and throw it at my own face!

This book is full of action and emotions, while still having time to make you laugh. In the middle of a war you find yourself laughing at something one of the Dead Men has said or thought. Only certain authors can have you laughing while there is a war going on in the background and Derek does an amazing job.

One of my favourite things about this book is after so much mentioning, we finally get the full Dead Men back together and it is magnificent to see them go off on missions together and just be sassy with one another.

The Dying of the Light by Derek Landy – 5/5 Stars

I first read this book back in 2014 when It was released and to be able to come back to it in 2017 to reread it and still have it wreck me emotionally is a true testament to how great this book really is.

I lost count of how many times I cried while reading (even though I knew what was going to happen) and one point I closed the book and said very loudly “No, No that’s okay Derek I didn’t need my heart! Just destroy it!”

Saga Vol. 1 by Brian K. Vaughan- 4/5 Stars

This is the first comic in a science fiction/ fantasy series and I’m addicted to it!

I need to read the next volumes ASAP because I am in love with the characters and the story.

My full review is still to come.

I am so excited for Skulduggery Pleasant Resurrection that I am half expecting myself to burst out crying as soon as I get the book in my hands and probably won’t stop until I close the book. Then I will most likely keep crying because I finished it.

Yeah I’m going to be an emotional wreck.

But fingers crossed I don’t get a reading slump and can keep going with my reading and catch up on some blog posts I’m behind on.

I hope you call have a productive June and stay warm if you are in Australia because it is officially winter! YAY!!

Happy reading everyone!

Jess
