Monthly Wrap Up

December Wrap Up!

I can’t believe it’s already the end of December and the end of 2016! This year has flown by so quickly.

I had a pretty good reading month, I read a total of 4 books plus a novella, to me that is a really successful month. Without further ado let’s get into it!

It Gets Worse:  A Collection of Essays by Shane Dawson- 3/5 Stars

A collection of short essays written by Shane Dawson about his life, he shares everything holding nothing back (even though we wish he would) and telling us not only the good things but also the bad things his childhood and growing up. As a fan of Shane I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to fans.

Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy- 5/5 Stars (re-read)

After the death of her uncle Stephanie Edgley meets Skulduggery Pleasant, a wise cracking detective, who is also a skeleton. Together they need to save the world from the bad guys while trying not to die at the same time. It’s an action packed adventure filled with sass, humour and magic.

Sleeping Beauty (The Broken Empire, #2.5) by Mark Lawrence- 3/5 Stars

Have you read The Broken Empire trilogy but not the novellas? Welcome to the club! Sleeping Beauty is supposed to be read between King of Thorns and Emperor of Thorns.  I really enjoyed this short 33 page novella giving me a taste of Mark Lawrence’s writing and more of my favourite character Jorg.

Gemina by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff- 5/5 Stars

The second book in the amazing Illuminae trilogy, we meet new lead characters as well as meet up with some old characters in this epic space adventure! There isn’t much I can say without spoiling it for you. So go read it!

You can read all the spoilers in my review here.

Playing With Fire (Skulduggery Pleasant #2) by Derek Landy- 5/5Stars (re-read)

The second book in the Skulduggery Pleasant series, we meet back up with Stephanie and Skulduggery a year after the events of the first book, still fighting crime and solving mysteries. They now must face a new enemy and save the world again from gods long dead. A great continuation to this series and filled with so much action you won’t be able to put it down.

I hope everyone had a great reading month and is as excited for 2017 as I am. Have a safe new year!

Happy reading everyone!

Jessica.
